Services
Translation is a multidisciplinary profession. To best match your needs, it is crucial to identify which services you require. From there, we can discuss how each service can be tailored to you and your project.
The Process: Collaboration and Research
Throughout my translational practice, I place great emphasis on the profession’s collaborative nature. As such, I aim to work in tandem with clients in order to best realise their project’s potential and, crucially, doing so in their own image.
Thereafter, I consider it imperative to meticulously research a text’s subject area and overarching context, even when within my own specialist areas.
The above ensures greater efficiency and overall quality, adding value to your business.
Services
01.
Translation
The process whereby a written text is transferred from one language to another.
I currently offer translations from either French or Dutch into English.
02.
Revision
The process whereby a translation is compared with its source text and amended accordingly. This accounts for any mistranslations or terminological inconsistencies, while also paying close attention to style and register.
03.
Editing & Proofreading
The process of checking an English-language text for any linguistic errors, adhering to a predetermined tone and style.
04.
Transcreation
A highly collaborative process, transcreation combines translation with autonomous creation to preserve a text’s intended effect. This is particularly pertinent, for example, to advertising or marketing texts where their humour, wordplay, or niche references may find no equivalence in the target language.
05.
Transcription
The process whereby an audio or audio-visual file is converted into a written document.
